If you are like me, you have wondered what it would be like to jump into a time machine and travel back to the origin of many things. For example, I would like to go back and see how people invented some instruments, or even how casinos originated. But as we all know, time machines don’t exist (yet), so the next best thing would be to peer back through the lens of history and see what caused the existence of many modern day products and services. This is why I have made this article. It contains a thorough retrospective on the origins of Meta.

How meta came to be? 

Facebook is rebranding themselves because they want to be more than just a social media platform. They want to be a company that provides the best products for their users, and that’s why they’re rebranding themselves as «meta.»

It all started when Mark Zuckerberg wanted to build a product that would help people connect with each other. He created Facebook, but he didn’t stop there. He wanted more—he wanted a way for people to connect with each other in ways they never could have before, and he wanted it to be easier than ever before.

In order to do that, Facebook needed to change. They needed to provide an experience so good that people would become addicted (in a good way). They needed something that would make you feel like you’re part of something bigger than yourself: part of an online community where everyone cares about everyone else and you can always turn to them for help or support whenever you need it most.

What is the metaverse?

The metaverse is a term for a collective virtual space, created by joining of virtually physical reality and physically virtual space, including all of the virtual worlds, augmented reality as well as the internet.

The term was coined in Neal Stephenson’s 1992 novel Snow Crash. In Snow Crash, the metaverse is used to describe a three-dimensional environment that can be accessed through computer terminals connected to networks (i.e., computers). In Stephenson’s vision, thousands of people log into this «world» every day.

What will it mean to live in the metaverse?

The metaverse will be a place where you can meet people from all around the world, talk about things that matter to you, and even share your passion for life.

And what will it mean to live in this place? It means being able to experience all sorts of new things—literally anything you can think of—without leaving your couch! The metaverse is going to give us the opportunity to explore new worlds, discover new cultures and languages, learn new skills… and just have fun doing it! In the Metaverse, you’re free to live out your wildest fantasies and do whatever you want. You can be anyone you want to be, from a famous celebrity to an alien from another planet. You can go anywhere on earth or beyond it—and if there’s not an experience you want in the existing metaverse, then it’s easy enough for you to create one yourself!
